Question: How do I order?

Answer:  Placing an order will consist of several steps:

    

Question:  Why is the price less than half of what I have seen quoted from other companies?

Answer:  1.  We have worked out an efficient system for creating and maintaining "basic" business web pages.  2.  Our pricing is based on $35/hr labour.  Many of our competitors bill out at $75 - $150/hr.  3.  Most companies insist on adding expensive glitz (animation, sound, graphics) that add little to the effectiveness of the site as a marketing and information tool.  4. We are hungry for work.  We want your business and we want you to be so pleased you give us at least two referrals so our volume will continue to grow.

Question: Do I have to know anything about computers or the internet to do this?

Answer:  You do not have to know anything about computers or the internet to do this.  Most our customers are in businesses that have nothing to do with computers.  They are retailers, lawyers, real-estate agents, farmers, babysitters, doctors, dentists, chiropractors, healthcare workers, contractors, machine shops, textile manufacturers, book stores to name a few.  Our customers are business people who want to keep up with the times and realize that all they need is an internet presence to reap the cheap advertising benefits of the internet.

Question:  How do I give you the information you need to make my site?

Answer:  We will fax or email you a form asking standard information like business name, address, contact information etc.  You fax or email the form back and we take it from there.  We will probably call or email you once or twice to clarify details or suggest colour/logo changes.

Question: What if I want more than a basic web site?

Answer:  We specialize in providing a basic site at an unbeatable price.  We believe there is a great need for this service and there are very few offering it.  There are thousands upon thousands of businesses who specialize in creating flashy, more complicated web sites.  We can do the fancy stuff, but at this time we are staying out of that market.  However, most web site programmers will charge you $500 - $1000 just to secure you domain name and host your site for a year.  All that is included in the $444 we charge.  We suggest you start with us to establish a basic site, then shop around and choose a specialty company to upgrade your site.  We have no problem with other companies improving your web site, in fact we encourage it.

Question:  Can I make changes to my site?

Answer:  Yes, we buy the domain and set up the site for you, but you own it - you can do whatever you want with it.  We supply you all the passwords and other information necessary for you (or someone you hire) to access and change the site.  Furthermore, we are happy to make any changes you request.  If they constitute a significant amount of work, we will have to bill you for the time, but we are very reasonable.

Question:  What value is a basic web site to my business?

Answer:  The answer depends on your business.  Don't expect that a web site will instantly cause you business to balloon.  This has been known to happen, but it is not the norm.  The internet is an advertising media, just like newspapers, signs, TV etc.  The beauty of it is the potential exposure it offers and the relatively low price.  Studies show that more and more people are turning to the internet as their first resource for finding businesses.  Many people (me included) would sooner do a search on a search engine than pull out the yellow pages.  If you don't have a web site, you will not get these people's business.  Having a web site listed on your stationary, road sign and ads gives your business credibility and gives interested parties a means of checking you out 24/7 without the hassles of a phone call.  Your basic web site will have a description of what your business does, your contact and address information, a link to a map to help them find you, links to your manufacturer's web sites (if applicable) and a link so people can email you (if you want it).  For a large majority of prospective customers, this is all the information they need.  Huge flashy web sites do not necessarily solicit more business - to many they are distracting and have less appeal than a basic "just-the-facts" site.  If you wish to include a detailed product catalog and a shopping cart system for on-line purchases, be prepared to spend thousands of dollars and don't waste your time with us.  There are thousands of firms that specialize in "complicated" web sites.  That is not the business we are in, but we are happy to help you find someone who is.

Question:  If "Business Web Pages dot com" goes bankrupt or disappears for any reason, will I lose my web site?

Answer:   No, absolutely not.  Everything we do to establish your site is prepaid by us a year-at-a-time.  The site is hosted by a separate hosting entity.  In the event that we disappear overnight, your site would remain intact until the end of the annual hosting rental period.  At that time, you would be contacted by the hosting service directly  to renew the site and pay them directly rather than through us.  Nothing would be lost, and nothing would change unless you wanted it to.

Question:  What happens if I change my mind?

Answer:  You have complete control.  If you change your mind and want your site changed or deleted, just let us know.  If you are not satisfied with the service we are giving you, you are free to take your business, and your site, away from us.  It is your web site - we set it up, but you own it. 

Question:  Can I get email with my new domain name?

Answer:  Yes, you unlimited email addresses.  We will set one up for you ( [anything]@YourBusinessName.com) and show you how you can set up, edit or delete others as you wish.  We will set it up so emails going to this new email address will automatically be forwarded to your existing email address.  You will not have to make any changes at your end to start receiving email to your new email address. 

Question:  Can I choose a domain name besides my business name?

Answer:  Yes, you can choose any domain you like.  As long as it is not already taken, we will set it up for you.

Question:  What if the domain name I want (ie www.YourBusinessName.com) is taken?

Answer:  There are several options. 1)  we work on an alternate name that isn't taken (for example www.your_business_name.com or www.your-business-name.com instead of www.yourbusinessname.com).  2)  We try a different ending (for example www.yourbusinessname.org or www.yourbusinessname.net)  3) We track down whomever owns the name and offer to buy it from them.   This option can get very expensive.

Question:  What if I decide in the future I no longer want to do business with your company, does that mean I lose the site?

Answer:  No.  We set up the site using an established 3rd party hosting company.  If we disappear, they will deal directly with you.  When we first establish your site, we provide you with all the information necessary for you to take your business elsewhere.  We intend to earn your business and keep it by providing great service at a great value.

Question:  How Long does it take?

Answer:  Time is money!  Once we get your information, we want to get the job done.  In most cases, we will have you site done and on-line within 3 days of receiving your information.  The worst case scenario is a week.  Compare this to the 2-12 week waits offered by many of our competitors.
